Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope 2. Once again the Forgotten Hope Team would like to present some of the new models and skins we've been developing for the first release of Forgotten Hope 2! And for today's update we have a kind of feast of German Industry for the Wehrmacht. But before that we have good news for all Mac users out there!

A Macintosh version of the Forgotten Hope Fan Mappack #6 Client for Forgotten Hope for Battlefield 1942(tm) is available. We would like to thank Adamward of Macologist.org for creating this version and invite you to grab it here.

Even more good news! Last update we showed off the Duke of Holland's Sidi Rezegh Blockhouse. Since then, he has already finished another static and we are very pleased to announce that Duke of Holland joined the Forgotten Hope Developer Team. His abilities will be a great addition as you will see at his newest model - the Sidi Rezegh Barracks. Expect more from him to come in the future and give him a nice welcome in the public forums.

The next item for today's news update is the German Opel Blitz 3 ton S (Standard) truck, the most common transport vehicle of the German army. As this is a hot day we decided to leave the blanking cover at home for today. The Opel Blitz was modeled by Lude, skinned and normal mapped by Jimbob and coded by ctz.

Transportation of soldiers gets them to the battle, but without weapons they will not be able to fight. For this reason we opened the armory and have the all new Maschinenpistole 40 (MP40) at your disposal. This submachine gun had a magazine capacity of 32 rounds 9mm Parabellum ammunition. A maximum combat range of 100m and the rate of fire of 500 rounds per minute made an excellent weapon. The Maschinenpistole 40 was modelled by Hail of Nails and Rad. Rad also did the texturing, coding and animations.

As final extra we have a small weapon with great effect for you today as well. The Stielhandgranate 24 carried an explosive charge of 165g. It's shaft made it easy to throw for a relatively long range. Hopefully this will light some nice fires in one or two holes. The Stielhandgranate 24 was made by Rad.

That's all for today, but be sure to come back again next week for another Forgotten Hope update. Until then, we invite you to visit our public forums and/or our IRC channel to discuss this update or other news.

Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope 2. We hope you have been enjoying the recently released Forgotten Hope Fan Mappack #6 for Forgotten Hope for Battlefield 1942(tm) for the last few days and furthermore we hope that this will help you over the waiting time for Forgotten Hope 2. Nevertheless we want to keep you informed of our progress and for that reason we have some more info about FH2 in today's news update.

During the African Campaign, German Panzer divisions in Africa were supplied with various kinds of tanks, assault guns, tank destroyers and other equippment. In the early stages of this campaign Germans were equipped with Panzer Is, Panzer IIs, Panzer IIIs mainly.

Today the German supply ships just dropped of the first Panzerkampfwagen II's. Already obsolete by the time Germany became involved in the African Theatre of operations, it was mainly used as a reconnaissance tank from 1942 onwards. At the beginning of the campaign the PzKpfw II was still indispensable as a frontline battle tank for the Afrika Korps. The chassis was also useful as base for various conversions such as the Marder II tank destroyer and Wespe self-propelled artillery vehicle. The Sonderkraftfahrzeug 121 Ausf C was modeled by Lude, skinned and normalmapped by AaronAsh, unwrapped by Lobo and coded by ctz.

Our next item for today is a static created by our betatester Duke of Holland. The so-called Sidi Rezegh Blockhouse (it was really just strongly built local civilian building, that happened to be well-placed for defense) was the target of an early-morning advance by New Zealand infantry on 25th November, as a part of the series of clashes that were part of Operation Crusader. Other units carried on towards the nearby Sidi Rezegh airfield itself. The blockhouse was heavily defended, and not easily accessible by artillery observers. The blockhouse only fell after a prolonged effort by attacking infantry and their supporting units.

That's all for today, but be sure to come back next week for another Forgotten Hope update. Until then, feel free to visit our public forums to discuss this update or other news. And if you haven't downloaded the Forgotten Hope Fan Mappack #6 for Forgotten Hope for Battlefield 1942(tm) yet, you should definitely give it a try!

Hello, and welcome to the BitTorrent pre-release of the Forgotten Hope Fan Mappack #6 for Forgotten Hope for Battlefield 1942™. The file you download with bit torrent will have a password, that will not be revealed until the main release, which is currently scheduled for 1800 GMT on May 19th. The file is "only" 508.726 KB but it won't do you any harm to get started early! Be patient though!, torrents take a while to pick up speed!

Forgotten Hope Fan Mappack #6 BitTorrent File

For those of you who are not already aware, it BitTorrent is a peer-to peer distribution tool that allows many people to download from each other simultaneously. This means the more people that are connected the faster the potential download speeds. If you are interested, you can read more about it here.

If you do not have a BitTorrent client, or have difficulty connecting, you might want to try Azureus, which is relatively easy to get started with, and has some interesting features. You can get Azureus here.

At this point we would like to thank Warumdarum and Winboard.org for seeding the file. And of course, we would like to thank all the Mappers and Betatesters as well for the excellent job and hard work they did to make the Map Pack possible.

Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope. Time to show off some progress made at the development of Forgotten Hope 2. And furthermore, we have additional news for you on the latest Fan Mappack. But let's first start with the FH2 goodies...

Last week we already introduced the 20 mm Flugabwehrkanone 38. The wait for getting it ingame was relatively short this time around. So today we are proud to present the first ingame shots of the most common, light anti-aircraft gun of the German armed forces. The Flak 38 was modelled and skinned by jodonnell.

Our last Forgotten Hope 2 images for this update, are showing a trench. As we promised a few weeks ago, more emplacements were to come. And today we have an Italian, fortified trench for you. This should be very welcomed by all infantry men as it provides cover which often seems to be missing in the vast, barren desert. The trench was created by Lobo and the wall texture is made by Hush from the BF1936 modification.

So much for the news on Forgotten Hope 2. You might want to join us on IRC and our public forums. And we really recommened that everyone read on to get the latest information on the upcoming Forgotten Hope Fan Mappack. You won't need any other reason to play Forgotten Hope for Battlefield 1942™ again.

And now it is finally the time for settling things. Many of you can't wait to get your hands on the final version of the latest Forgotten Hope Fan Mappack, for Forgotten Hope, for Battlefield 1942™. Our betatesters and the mappers have worked very hard and have done an excellent job. The final testing yesterday came up only with a few minor problems. For that reason, we are very confident that our current schedule will stay unchanged. What does that mean for you? We have settled on a release date for the latest version of the Forgotten Hope Fan Mappack!

Forgotten Hope Fan Mappack Releasedate:

Server:18th May @ 2000 GMT
Client:19th May @ 1800 GMT

Featured maps:
  • A Day ofZitadelle
  • Cretan Village
  • Fall Gelb - 1940
  • Kiew
  • Nuenen - 1944
  • Operation Lilliput
  • Road to Ramelle
  • Soletschnogorsk - 1941
  • Spurning Fate - 1945
  • Stashuv Area
  • The Attack on Carentan - 1944
  • Todtenbruch - 1944
  • Tulagi Island

And with all these maps you can expect a few new grenades at your disposal. To be more precise the Nebelhandgranate 39, M18, AN-M8, RDG1 and the Eihandgranate 39. These models have been made by Arisaka, GeRmAn~Bratwurst, knoffhoff, Mr_Cheese, Purity, SirFluffy and Toddel. For exact details watch the render below.

And last but not least... We have a few screenshots of some of the maps coming along, to feul the fire of your curiosity, if that has not already happened yet.

That's all for today. But be sure to come back for the release of the Forgotten Hope Fan Mappack! And you are kindly invited to join us on IRC. and our public forums.

Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope. Once again the Forgotten Hope Team would like to present some of the new models and skins we've been developing for the first release of Forgotten Hope 2! Today's update features two of the most common items from the German arsenal. But before giving any details we would like you to draw your attention to some interesting news.

The Forgotten Hope for Battlefield 1942™ minimod Norwegian Resistance has been quiet lately, and had no homepage for a little while. The team has restored their homepage and forums, and they are currently working on a new version of their minimod introducing several new maps, vehicles and stunning effects.

Furthermore, Norwegian Resistance has also started the development of a new FH2 minimod for Battlefield 2™. As a little appetizer we have two screenshots out of their latest update showing the remake of the battle at Ulsnes. You should definitely stop by their site to check out more screens and read about their latest progress!

Along with this good news it's time to unveil the first new item for FH2. The 20 mm Flugabwehrkanone 38 will help the German troops fulfill the motto of their anti-aircraft artillery "Wir bringen Licht und Wärme ins Cockpit!" ("We bring light and warmth into the cockpit!"). The Flak 38 was designed in 1939 as the successor to the Flak 30 and entered service in 1940. It quickly became the most common light anti-aircraft gun of the German armed forces. To enhance its mobility it could be either towed or mounted on a vehicle. The Sonderanhänger 52 and the Flakpanzer 38 (t) are only two examples. The Flak 38 was modelled and skinned by jodonnell.

Furthermore we'd like to present the German Opel Blitz 3 ton S (Standard) truck, which was by far the most common truck of the Wehrmacht. Designed as as a civilian commercial truck, its production started in 1937. The Blitz was powered by a 3.6 liter, 6 cylinder engine that produced 75 hp. It was soon discovered by the Wehrmacht that this popular truck was very dependable. More than 80,000 had been produced by 1944. The one we show off today was manufactured by Mange, who built the body, and Jimbob, who was responsible for the nice paintjob.

That's all for today, but be sure to come back next week for another Forgotten Hope update. And don't forget to join us on IRC. Feel free to visit our public forums to discuss this update or other news.

Hello and welcome back to a new update of Forgotten Hope 2. We had a week-long interruption in our news, while FileFront performed necessary maintenance, but we hope this week’s update will prove to have been worth the wait.

Today’s first item, the Hawker Hurricane was the main fighter of the RAF through the early stages of World War II. Most of the German planes shot down by British aircraft during the Battle of Britain were downed by Hurricanes, which while slower than the newer Supermarine Spitfire, was highly resistant to damage, maneuverable, and perhaps most importantly, was available in much larger numbers. As more Spitfires became available, Hurricanes were gradually replaced as a frontline fighter, and many were relegated to more specialized roles such as ground attack. Over 14,000 Hurricanes were built during the war.

The version shown today is a Hurricane Mark IIC, which entered service early in 1941. The IICs were equipped with an improved Rolls-Royce Merlin XX engine, which gave a maximum speed of about 334 miles per hour, and carried four Hispano-Suiza 20 mm cannon. The Hurricane Mark IIC was modeled and skinned by Lobo.

Our second item today is the Ordnance ML 3 inch Mortar, which was a standard weapon used by British infantry from its introduction in the 1920s and throughout the Second World War. The Mark II version could fire a 10 lb (4.54 kg) projectile 2750 yards (2525 m), and could be loaded with HE or smoke. It was usually transported by vehicle, although it could by broken down and carried by three men, when necessary. The 3 inch Mortar was modeled by Primo_itch, skinned by ctz and McGibs, and normal mapped by ctz.

Our last images for this week, are of a sandbag-walled North African section of trench, to provide a place to dive for cover when the mortar and Hispano-Suiza shells start to fall. The trenches were created by Lobo. These trenches are something of a "proof of concept" project, so expect to see more like them in the future.

That's all for today, but please come back next week for another Forgotten Hope update. Until then, feel encouraged to visit our public forums to discuss this update or other news.
