Virtue from Necessity22.05.2006 21:00 GMT Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope 2. We hope you have been enjoying the recently released Forgotten Hope Fan Mappack #6 for Forgotten Hope for Battlefield 1942(tm) for the last few days and furthermore we hope that this will help you over the waiting time for Forgotten Hope 2. Nevertheless we want to keep you informed of our progress and for that reason we have some more info about FH2 in today's news update. During the African Campaign, German Panzer divisions in Africa were supplied with various kinds of tanks, assault guns, tank destroyers and other equippment. In the early stages of this campaign Germans were equipped with Panzer Is, Panzer IIs, Panzer IIIs mainly. Today the German supply ships just dropped of the first Panzerkampfwagen II's. Already obsolete by the time Germany became involved in the African Theatre of operations, it was mainly used as a reconnaissance tank from 1942 onwards. At the beginning of the campaign the PzKpfw II was still indispensable as a frontline battle tank for the Afrika Korps. The chassis was also useful as base for various conversions such as the Marder II tank destroyer and Wespe self-propelled artillery vehicle. The Sonderkraftfahrzeug 121 Ausf C was modeled by Lude, skinned and normalmapped by AaronAsh, unwrapped by Lobo and coded by ctz. Our next item for today is a static created by our betatester Duke of Holland. The so-called Sidi Rezegh Blockhouse (it was really just strongly built local civilian building, that happened to be well-placed for defense) was the target of an early-morning advance by New Zealand infantry on 25th November, as a part of the series of clashes that were part of Operation Crusader. Other units carried on towards the nearby Sidi Rezegh airfield itself. The blockhouse was heavily defended, and not easily accessible by artillery observers. The blockhouse only fell after a prolonged effort by attacking infantry and their supporting units. That's all for today, but be sure to come back next week for another Forgotten Hope update. Until then, feel free to visit our public forums to discuss this update or other news. And if you haven't downloaded the Forgotten Hope Fan Mappack #6 for Forgotten Hope for Battlefield 1942(tm) yet, you should definitely give it a try! |
