Hello and welcome back. Today we have an advertisement for Forgotten Honor's new Forgotten Hope 2 Campaign:

Normandy 1944 Forgotten Hope 2

Forgotten Honor Tournament presents the first campaign playing Forgotten Hope 2.2: Normandy 1944.

In previous campaigns we have fought in the deserts of northern Africa, in the hills of Greece and in the towns of Italy. In this campaign we will move to France and fight on the beaches and the lush green countryside of Normandy. From frantic fighting on the beaches and ambushes among hedgerows to large scale engagements between tanks and airplanes.

Throw yourself in the mud for cover, fight through hedgerow after hedgerow, brace for shellshock as the ground around you is pounded by artillery fire and have faith in your company mates when you assault your objective. Every week your team's skills and planning will be tested against an equally determined foe.

When you join this campaign, Forgotten Honor: Normandy 1944, you will experience:

  • Forgotten Hope 2 at its best in Normandy
  • 128 players fighting for victory in battles raging over 2 servers at the same time
  • Great new unseen maps not released to the public
  • Coordinated teamplay between infantry, armour and air force
  • An improved and more realistic way of spawning on the battlefield
  • Promotions and rewards for your achievements
  • New friendships with likeminded people from all over the world
  • It is free, and everybody is welcome
Join the Forgotten Honor Campaign

Welcome to Part 3 of the Forgotten Hope Road to 2.2. In this update you will find the instructions to install version 2.2 and of course the password to the torrent file. Furthermore, we also have a list of unpassworded regular download mirrors available for everyone who doesn't like torrents.

So, without further ado, the password to the 2.2 torrent is:

h.-A.-u.-N.-e.-b.-U.-3

Below is a list of mirrors to the two 2.2 installers. You need to install both in the correct order to play FH2. More mirrors will be added as they become available.

Forgotten Hope 2.2 Part 1:

Forgotten Hope 2.2 Part 2:

Installation Instructions:

If you downloaded the torrent version of Forgotten Hope 2.2, you will first have to extract the installation files. You will need a program like WinRar to do this. After you have extracted these files, you will have the same two installers that can be downloaded at the regular mirrors listed above. Before you start installing anything, you first have to do two things. First, you must remove your old Forgotten Hope 2 version, if you have it installed. You can do this the regular way, via windows, or you can simply delete '/fh2/' in '/Battlefield 2/mods/'. Next, you have to update to Battlefield 2 version 1.5. This is the 2 GB patch that was released on Tuesday. If you do not install this patch, you will not be able to play online, as all servers will have switched to 1.5. When you are done with this, simply start up the two installers. Be very careful to install Part 1 first and then Part 2, otherwise you will end up with a broken installation. When both files are done - you are ready to play!

And that is all for now. We hope you enjoy Forgotten Hope 2.2 as much (or preferably more so) as we did making it. It contains one whole year of work by a very dedicated group of people and to see people enjoying our work makes it all worth while. We really also want to thank our betatesters who, especially in the last week, have been testing a huge amount of thing in the finest detail. Well done everyone!

If you have any question about the torrent, the installer or Forgotten Hope 2, you can always join us on our IRC channel, Teamspeak 2 channel (IP: 80.190.246.166:20019) or our public forums and will we do our best to help you out.

Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope. Yesterday, we showed the Axis Normandy trailer and today, it's time for the Allies Normandy trailer. Before showing it though, we would like to point you to our Pointe Du Hoc Guide, which was made by FatJoe. It shows in detail how best to use the grappling hooks and the thermite grenades and will be a great help for the allied players on this map.

Up next then, is the Allied Normandy Trailer by Bob Sacamano.

The password to the torrent file will be released today at 1800 UTC, which is 2 hours from now. At the same time we will post a list of mirrors from which you can download the unpassworded installers. Since there is no patch this time around and only a full install, here is a short installation guide.

Installation Instructions

Delete your previous installation of Forgotten Hope 2. The easiest way to do this, is to go to your /Battlefield 2/mods/ directory and to remove the 'fh2/' folder
Update to Battlefield 2 version 1.5 if you haven't done so already
If you have downloaded the torrent, extract both installers using the password
Install Part 1 first, then install Part 2

One last note - it is quite possible that our website and forum cannot handle the strain of so many people loading the pages at the same time, so it would be smart to join our IRC channel or our Teamspeak 2 channel (IP: 80.190.246.166:20019). The password will be posted here at 1800 UTC as well and the developers and betatesters will be around to help you with any questions you may have.

That's all for now, but be sure to come back in 2 hours for the 2.2 release! Until then, feel free to visit our IRC channel and our public forums to discuss this update and other news.

Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope. It has been a very hard and busy two weeks for everyone working on Forgotten Hope 2.2, both developers and testers. We have gone through three release candidates, we had to fix numerous issues caused by the Battlefield 2 patch which was released just three days ago and our testers have been making sure everything works pretty much around the clock all week long. But today, we have finally put the finishing touches to our Normandy Theater of War and are proud to announce that Forgotten Hope 2.2 will be released...

Tomorrow,
Saturday the 5th of September 2009 at 18:00 UTC

Our original plan was to release today, but Battlefield 2 patch 1.5 and some serious bugs that managed to sneak through the release candidates meant that everyone had to work on getting everything finished right up until today. This is why we did not want to post an announcement the week before the release, like we normally do.

As usual, we also have a passworded torrent you can download, so you can install FH2 straight away when the password is released tomorrow. For this release only a full install will be available. We decided against doing a patch, since its size would still be huge and many people have had problems with the patch installer in the past. To download a torrent file you will need a bittorrent client. We recommend uTorrent.

Before posting the torrent links we want to thank our website and forum host Flüstertüte for showing his dedication to the mod, by setting up our torrents while on vacation. Many thanks!

For the server admins we also have the server files available. You only need these files if you are running a dedicated server. You cannot play Forgotten Hope 2 with these files.

In the next part of this update, we will have a look at what comes with Forgotten Hope 2.2. We have already shown most of the new content in the news updates of the previous year, but as you will see, we still have a couple of things we hope will be a nice surprise. For the people who have not been keeping up with the updates, or simply forgot some things that were shown, there is a general list of new content in version 2.2 below. First though, we want to show off the first of two trailers. This one shows the Axis forces in Normandy and was made by our official trailer developer Bob Sacamano. There will be a trailer of the Allied forces in Normandy tomorrow.

The major changes in 2.2 are:
5 New Soldier models:

    The US Army
    The Canadian Army
    The British Army
    The German Wehrmacht
    The German Grenadiers
7 New maps:
    Pointe Du Hoc
    Purple Heart Lane
    Lebisey
    Operation Goodwood
    Operation Totalize
    Operation Lüttich
    Falaise Pocket
16 New German vehicles, including:
PzKpfw VI Ausf. B 'Tiger II'
    PzKpfw V Ausf. G 'Panther'
    StuG 40 Ausf. G late
    Focke Wulf FW-190 A-8
    Nebelwerfer 41
11 New British vehicles, including:
    Cromwell Mk. IV
    Churchill Mk. IV
    Sherman VC 'Firefly'
    Hawker Typhoon Mk. I B
    LCA 'Landing Craft Assault'
8 New American vehicles, including:
    M3A1 Halftrack
    M8 Light Armored Car
    M4A1 Medium Tank
    M10 Tank Destroyer
    LCVP 'Landing Craft Vehicle Personnel'
35 New weapons, including:
    MG42
    StG44
    Panzerschreck
    Sten Mk.II
    Pattern 14 Rifle
    PIAT
    M1 Garand
    M1918A2 BAR
    M1A1 Flamethrower

Be sure to check out all vehicles and weapons in their corresponding sections on our website. You can also see a detailed description of each map, with its layout and many screenshots in the maps section.

In addition to all these vehicles we also have one new vehicle and a special one at that. This is the WR 360 C14 German Diesel Locomotive. It was made by Messiah, Toddel and Mr Cheese.

One of the most noticeable and exciting changes in 2.2 will be the addition of 3D iron sights. The main reason we changed from our flat 2D iron sights was because of the rough transition between 3D model and 2D sight. We know many people have voiced their concerns about 3D sights on our forum, but the new sights have been received with great enthusiasm by all our betatesters, some of which also had concerns before seeing it in game. So, here are six screenshots showing off these new 3D iron sights.

Another change we would like to mention here is a change in gameplay. First off, every plane in the mod has gotten a complete physics overhaul, making flying much smoother and easier. We recognised that flying in previous versions was not something everyone could enjoy, so we hope these changes have fixed that. Secondly, the tank damage and armour system has also been given a good tweaking. We felt that tank combat was over too quickly and that there was too little strategy involved, with the winning tank nearly always being the one who spotted the other tank first. Of course, Tigers and Panthers will still kill Shermans with a single shot, but tanks that are more evenly matched should be up for a longer fight than before.

Last, but not least, we have the complete changelog, for everyone who wants to take a look at all the changes in detail.

Download the Changelog here

That's all for today, but be sure to come back tomorrow for the 2.2 release! Until then, feel free to visit our IRC channel and our public forums to discuss this update and other news.

Hello and welcome to a short announcement about Forgotten Hope 2 and the Battlefield 2 patch 1.5 that was released earlier today. We regret to announce that FH2, both the current public version 2.15 and the beta version 2.2, are not compatible with the new Battlefield 2 patch. We recommend all players and server admins not to install the 1.5 patch until a solution has been found.

As usual, you can discuss this announcement and other news on our IRC channel and our public forums.
