Hello and welcome back to another Forgotten Hope 2 update.

Today we are back again with another weapon that you will find in the hands of our Norwegian soldiers: the 11,25 m/m pistol M/1914, perhaps better known as the Kongsberg Colt.

In 1911 the Norwegian military had just concluded a set of trials to select a replacement to the M/1893 Nagant revolver, with the winning design being the Colt Model 1902 in .38 ACP. For a number of reasons this wasn't seen as ideal, and the trial would be repeated in 1913 with the addition of brand new Model 1911 Colts. Following extensive testing, this was adopted as the M/1914. The trial guns had been purchased directly from Colt in the USA, but the rights for manufacture had to be obtained from FN in Belgium.

By September 1914, FN was occupied by the Germans and a production deal was signed quickly and cheaply to allow Kongsberg Våpenfabrikk to begin tooling up to make the pistols. This turned out to be a slow process, so the first few hundred pistols were instead purchased from Colt in 1915 and 1917. Domestic mass production of the M/1914 began in 1918 with the Norwegian pistols receiving a larger slide release compared to the original American M1911. 22311 would be produced before the 1940 German Occupation. A further 8200 would be produced under occupation for use by German forces in the country, and 2319 were assembled from parts after the war. Ours was made by Ashton and RedRogueXIII.
